DEMOPOLIS, Ala. — Human remains were found in Alabama during the search for missing Jacksonville 5-year-old Taylor Williams.

5:30 p.m. Tuesday update: Sheriff Mike Williams with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office updated the media on the human remains found in Alabama during the search for missing 5-year-old Taylor Williams and on the arrest and hospitalization of the missing child's mother:

According to the sheriff, the search teams recovered the remains of a child in Alabama. An exact identification has not been made, he said.

Sheriff Williams said there are indications that these remains may be Taylor Williams. Brianna Williams has been arrested and charged with child neglect and giving false information to investigators, police say. Williams has been ‘absentee booked', but would not talk about the details of the child neglect.

Brianna Williams is in the hospital due to an apparent overdose. She is in serious condition.

Anyone with additional information is still asked to contact the Sheriff's Office. This investigation is "nowhere near done," according to Williams.

UPDATE 3:34 P.M.: 

Brianna Williams, the mother of missing 5-year-old, Taylor Williams, has been taken to the hospital from Naval Air Station Jacksonville. This comes just hours after remains were found in Alabama.

Human remains have been found in Alabama during the search for missing Jacksonville 5-year-old Taylor Williams, according to the Demopolis Police Department.

The human remains were found in a wooded area between the cities of Linden and Demopolis, Alabama. Remains were found in trash bag(s), sources say.

The victim's identification is pending. According to authorities, the search effort was a combination of efforts from ten agencies.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is awaiting confirmation as forensic tests are completed. Operational efforts will now shift to secure and process the evidence at the scene.
