No one injured after NAS Jax-based helicopter makes ‘precautionary landing’ in Central Florida

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A Navy helicopter based out of NAS Jacksonville had to make an emergency landing in Volusia County, Action News Jax sister station WFTV in Orlando reports.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said deputies in its helicopter spotted the Navy helicopter, which appears to be undamaged.

A United States Navy spokesman told WFTV that the Navy helicopter landed as a precaution and that no one was injured during the “precautionary landing.”

WFTV reports that the Sheriff’s Office helicopter landed so that deputies could check on the other helicopter’s crew.

VCSO said that the emergency landing happened near State Road 11 and north of State Road 40.

An NAS Jacksonville spokesperson said the aircraft is assigned to HSM-70.
