One of the schools slated to get a new building under the master facility plan is already under construction. Rutledge H. Pearson Elementary School had its new school groundbreaking ceremony in May and is slated to be complete in August 2023. Here’s how the next two school years will look for that school community, according to DCPS:

  • 2022-23 - Students from Rutledge H. Pearson Elementary School will attend school on the Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School campus. The two schools will be operating on the same campus for one year.
  • 2023-24 - Three elementary schools (Henry F. Kite, Martin Luther King Jr., and Rutledge H. Pearson) will transition to the new campus.
