1 dead, 2 seriously hurt following overnight shootings in Jacksonville

Police say a deadly shooting happened in Arlington, and a separate shooting happened hours later on I-295.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating two shootings overnight that left one person dead and two others seriously hurt. Here’s what we know:

DEADLY SHOOTING IN ARLINGTON

The first shooting happened Tuesday just after 10 p.m. in the 1200 block of Brookwood Forest Boulevard, near Monument Road.

Authorities found a man between the age of 18 and 20 dead at the scene and another man believed to be in his early 20s who had been shot multiple times.

Officers said he was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

A suspect in that double shooting has not been identified at this time, according to JSO. Detectives are canvassing the area for witnesses and any video cameras that may have captured what happened.

SHOOTING ON I-295

A second, unrelated shooting happened just hours later before 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said officers were called out to I-295 North near Roosevelt Boulevard after receiving a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they learned that two people from two separate vehicles, were shooting at each other while driving northbound on I-295.

A man from one of those vehicles was hit during the exchange and was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

The other vehicle involved left the area.

A third vehicle that was not involved in the shooting was hit by stray bullets, but JSO said no one inside that vehicle was hurt.
