In March of 2020, police said Inandi Wyche,17, was dropping a friend off in Sherwood Forest, a neighborhood on Jacksonville’s Northside, when a gray car pulled up in front of her on Portsmouth Avenue. Two men got out and started firing. Wyche was shot and killed inside her car.
Arrest reports released by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office now link Roland Ball Jr., 21, to her death. Ball is charged with second-degree murder.
Another 16-year-old was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Action News Jax is not releasing his name or mugshot because he is a minor.
Wyche’s mother Monique shared a statement about the arrest on social media:
“#justicefornandi
“Arrests have been [sic]! God is the only vindicator we need and all the thanks goes to him. As I sought solace in my time of sadness and pleaded my case to the Lord, I was reminded of Deuteronomy 32:35:
‘To me belongeth vengeance and recompense; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of the calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.’
“The support I have received surpasses all I could have fathomed. Special thanks to everyone that stood with me as we sought justice for my Princess Inandi. All capacity of support, prayers, listening ears, uplifting messages, heartfelt hugs, sincere well wishes, monetary donations toward a reward, were and continue to be appreciated.
“Continue to pray that justice prevails that leads to convictions.
“Heartfelt thanks,
Monique”
