6-year-old girl shot, JSO investigating 3 separate shootings Monday night

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 12/21/2021 8:00 p.m.:

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the 6-year-old girl was shot in the hand, Monday night. The report stated she was in a bedroom in the back of the house when it happened.

It is still unclear if this was accidental, self-inflicted, or intentional. So far, no arrests have been made.

ORIGINAL STORY 12/20/2021 11:45 p.m.:

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to three separate shootings within an hour of each other Monday evening.

The first shooting happened around 8 p.m. at a residence on the 5200 block of Dodge Road, near Moncrief.

JSO said a 6-year-old girl was suffering from a gunshot wound when they arrived on the scene.

First responders transported the little girl to the hospital, but she is expected to be OK.

According to police, there were multiple people inside the home at the time of the shooting. However, they have been giving conflicting reports about the incident.

Right now, it is unclear if the shooting was self-inflicted, accidental, or intentional.

Police said they will be able to determine what led up to the shooting based on physical evidence and witness interviews.

While Action News Jax was at the scene, investigators were canvassing the area, speaking to witnesses, and waiting on a search warrant to search inside the residence.

The second shooting occurred around 8:30 p.m. at the 5600 block of Hampton Creek Road. JSO said a man was shot multiple times in his garage as he was arriving home.

Two men in a dark-colored SUV got out of the vehicle, walked up to the victim, and shot him multiple times while he was inside his garage, according to police. The two suspects then got back in the SUV and fled the area, driving East on Hampton Creek Road.

JSO said they do not have any other suspect information at this time but they do believe this to be an isolated incident.

According to JSO, the third shooting happened near New Town on Myrtle Avenue North and Hart Street.
