JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Division of Emergency Management confirmed to Action News Jax that 6,000 additional doses of the COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Duval County this week.
They will be reserved for hospital systems and health care providers. The city-run Mandarin and Lane Wiley sites, along with the health department’s Prime Osborne location, were not included in the allotment.

Baptist Health announced on Jan. 8 that they were beginning to administer vaccines to people 65 years and older, along with frontline health care workers.
So far, 13,000 appointments have been booked for vaccines and they currently have no more available.

The Mayo Clinic told Action News Jax that it has administered 9,100 first doses of the vaccine and 2,400 second doses, for a total of 11,500.
The hospital is currently vaccinating health care workers and high-risk patients who are 65 years and older. The hospital is currently inviting patients to appointments, and they are not available to the general public.
UF Health in Jacksonville has administered more than 9,000 total vaccines, which includes both first and second doses.
A representative said vaccines are going to health care workers and their relatives who are 65 years and older, along with patients 65 years and older.
Patients will receive an invitation to book an appointment.
Ascension St. Vincent’s has conducted a total of 7,000 vaccinations since December 17th. Starting last Friday, January 8, the hospital began vaccinating medical group patients 65 years and up along with healthcare workers.
In a statement, Ascension said, “In this limited initial round of public vaccinations, those who want to be vaccinated must schedule an appointment and be a current patient of Ascension Medical Group (AMG). Walk-in vaccinations are not available at this time, but these requirements may be adjusted in the future as additional vaccine doses become available. AMG patients who meet the criteria are being continuously contacted as appointments become available.”
