Police: Body found on Jacksonville’s Eastside, foul play suspected

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police are investigating after a man’s body was found on the Eastside, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

Crews with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to a house on Franklin Street, where the body was found, Monday morning.

Action News Jax’s Ben Ryan spoke with the half-brother of the victim who called 911. He and the victim lived at the home for the past three years. The family member was shaken up after discovering the body.

Based on the injuries on the body, police said they suspect foul play.

The family member said the last time he spoke with the victim was 9 p.m. Sunday.

He told Action News Jax he walked in at around 9 a.m. Monday and found his half-brother behind the door with a stone next to his hand and gloves on.

The victim is believed to be in his 40s.

The investigation is happening near Long Branch Elementary School. However, the school was not affected or put on lockdown.
