JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On day two of the Katrina Brown and Reggie Brown sentencing, the government gave their sentencing recommendations.

The government recommended a penalty of 54 months, fines, restitution, and supervised release for Katrina Brown.

Reggie Brown, who the Government said is less culpable, was recommended 48 months, fines, and supervised release.

In 2019, the pair was convicted on dozens of federal charges stemming from two fake businesses that were created to funnel more than $250,000 dollars in grant and loan funds to Katrina’s barbecue business.

Today, both Browns spoke to the judge.

Katrina Brown asked the judge to give her probation and a second chance. Brown said her family has dealt with public scrutiny throughout the process.

She tearfully said she felt the stress caused by her father’s stroke adding that the situation has been a “huge embarrassment.”

Reggie Brown began by telling a judge he was sorry and remorseful.

“I will respect the court’s findings and accept responsibility for my involvement in this case,” Reggie Brown said.

Brown apologized to his family and the people of Jacksonville.

“My participation was a serious error in judgment on my part,” Reggie Brown said.

A sentencing decision by the judge will likely come Thursday.
