JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. —

RELATED STORY: UPDATE: Music program, equipment stolen from Deck the Chairs in Jacksonville Beach has been replaced

Attendees of the “Deck the Chairs Light Show” saw the displays they’re accustomed to Tuesday night.

But on Monday, a corner of the show directly in front of the Seawalk Pavilion in Jacksonville Beach remained static after someone stole essential electronic equipment used to synchronize the lights to music.

The founder of the show, Kurtis Loftus, said he believes someone stole a laptop and other technology needed to program the show either Sunday night or Monday morning.

“Somebody had gotten into the shed and stole the easy stuff, the electronics. The laptop was gone; there’s a little mixer board, and the switch, the network switches,” he said.

Loftus said he and his team worked with technicians to replace the electronics so that the synchronized show could be back up and running by Tuesday night. He said the stolen electronics have not been recovered.

“Do the whole installation of the light show again and get everything reset. And then just cross our fingers, pray it works and have it ready for tonight,” said Loftus.

He tells Action News Jax the lights and music couldn’t be synchronized Monday without the stolen equipment.

“You have the tree blinking and all the colors and the music, and then all of the displays around out it also blink and go to different colors, and that’s all part of a program on the laptop. So we’re without that right now,” he told Action News Jax on Tuesday morning.

Action News Jax noticed several surveillance cameras around the park.

Jacksonville Beach police tell Action News Jax detectives are going through the video to see if the thief was caught on camera.
