JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 1/7/2022: Action News Jax has obtained security video that shows the moment when Gabriel Enrique Campla surrendered after a standoff at a business on Southside Boulevard on Jan. 6.

Campla was charged with 3 counts of discharging a weapon, 4 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, and 4 counts of false imprisonment. He was also charged with a dangerous act evincing a depraved mind.

UPDATE 1/6/2022 3:50 p.m.: The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has identified Gabriel Enrique Campla as the subject in a SWAT standoff in the 4100 block of Southside Boulevard on Thursday.

In a media briefing, Chief T.K. Waters stated that around 11:25 a.m., Campla walked into a business in the area with a handgun and demanded occupants to leave and call the police.

Campla fired one shot outside the window of the business and two shots at the ceiling.

There were four employees inside the business and all but one left. The female employee that stayed behind helped to calm down Campla, who was acting erratically, before she exited the business on her own.
