JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The federally-run vaccination site on the north side has dozens of personnel on hand making sure the vaccine process is smooth.
Action News Jax first introduced you to some of the female heroes who work at the site, highlighting their accomplishments. As we continue through Women’s History Month, Action News Jax’s Meghan Moriarty shares more of these unique stories.
Hope Parawan is one of the youngest volunteers helping with vaccine distribution in Jacksonville. The 20-year-old graduated high school, enlisted and a year later is giving out the COVID-19 vaccine.
“About a year ago, before I joined, I never thought I would be a part of this whole thing,” Parawan said. “It’s great though. I feel very humbled by the fact that we’re giving people vaccines and saving their lives.”

She works as a hospital medical apprentice at the Gateway Mall site.
“When I first got here, I was giving vaccines to the patients, but now I’m actually drawing up the medications, very simple to do,” she said. “I’ve done over 200 now.”
On Monday, the site started administering vaccines to those 40 and older. It’s expected to pick up more foot traffic as limitations are lifted on who can get the vaccine.
