JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Draper Younce, a Navy sailor, was sitting in his car last week off of 103rd Street picking up a friend when a man tried to carjack him.
The terrifying ordeal was captured on Younce’s Tesla cameras.
The video shows a man run up to Younce with a gun drawn, even trying to get into the car.

The encounter lasted less than 10 seconds.
“He immediately said, ‘Get out of the car, get out of the car, I am taking your car’ ... I saw my opportunity to escape, and I ducked to the right. I accelerated as hard as I could,” Younce said.
Younce is a 15-year Navy sailor and credits his military training for staying calm and thinking fast. Younce drives a Tesla Model 3, which is equipped with eight cameras. After driving away, he honked his horn in order to save the video, a feature drivers can set up for their Tesla.
He then turned the video his Tesla captured over to police.
The suspect managed to shoot one round striking Younce’s car on the driver’s side and narrowly missing him.
