JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — As we approach Mother’s Day, many of you are thinking of the perfect gift for that special person in your life.
But several Jacksonville nonprofits are working to give those who may get nothing on that special day something to smile about.
A collection drive, spearheaded by Movers for Moms, will benefit hundreds of brave moms who have suffered abuse or fallen to homelessness, that currently stay at the Hubbard House and Betty Griffin Center.
This week, they’ll not only be putting together care packages for moms for Mother’s Day, but also collecting items like canned goods and other necessities.
So far they’ve collected 17,000 items and Winn-Dixie donated 1,400 pounds of food which will provide 1,200 meals for the shelter.
Anyone looking to donate can go to 5126 Timuquana Road from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on May 5.
