The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating an officer-involved crash that happened on Interstate 10 eastbound near Chaffee Road.
According to JSO, a sergeant was traveling eastbound on I-10 in a heavy rainstorm. The sergeant turned on her emergency lights and shifted lanes to assist in another crash off the side of the road.
An adult female driving a Volvo behind the JSO cruiser braked suddenly and, as a result, a semi truck behind the Volvo hit the brakes and swerved lanes to avoid a collision.
The semi truck hit the Volvo in a glancing blow before rear-ending the JSO cruiser.
The sergeant was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Volvo was transported to the hospital along with her adult male passenger. Both had minor injuries. The semi truck driver was unharmed.
The road was blocked until 8 p.m. as police investigated the crash.
