Jacksonville police: Man still missing nearly 2 years after abandoned car found on JTB

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding a man who has been missing for nearly two years.

Sanchez Hughes was last seen in the 1200 block of Ribault Drive in the Lake Forest neighborhood around 11 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2020, JSO said.

He was reported missing on Monday, Aug. 3, 2020. The next day, Hughes’ car, a black 2013 Honda Accord, was found abandoned in the eastbound lanes of J. Turner Butler Boulevard near Kernan Boulevard.

JSO is asking for help finding Hughes “due to the unusual circumstances surrounding his disappearance.”

Hughes’ mother Yolanda told Action News Jax in September 2020, “He was home with his roommate and a couple of friends. He just said he was going to pick up a friend from work, and that’s the last thing we know.”

Hughes, who was 30 at the time of his disappearance, was last seen wearing a black tank top, black jogging sweatpants, black Nike sneakers with blue soles and a black Nike hat. He is 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighs 180-200 lbs. and has brown eyes and black hair.

Anyone who has seen Hughes or may know his location is asked to call 904-630-0500 or email JSOCrimeTips@jaxsheriff.org.
