JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office police officer was arrested for driving under the influence early Tuesday, Sheriff T.K. Waters said.

Officer Justin Marino’s girlfriend called 911 around midnight and said they had gotten into an argument while intoxicated and he left in his patrol car, Waters said.

Police found Marino at a gas station on Gate Parkway and noticed signs of impairment.

Waters said Marino refused to perform field sobriety exercises and was then arrested on DUI charges.

Marino was not on duty at the time of his arrest, but Waters said he shouldn’t have been in his patrol car or any other vehicle.

Waters said Marino, who has been with JSO since June 10, 2019, has been suspended and stripped of his powers.

This is the fifth arrest of a JSO employee in 2023, Waters said.
