JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A male construction worker was killed while working on a shipping vessel in the 1900 block of Wigmore Street Sunday.
The man was working on board a large vessel when a crane carrying a sand aggregate material lowered its bucket and struck the man, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
When JSO arrived, they found the man dead on the vessel with injuries to his upper body.
JSO’s Homicide Unit, alongside the Occupation Safety and Health Administration and the U.S. Coast Guard, are investigating.
The crane was on the dock and operated by a contractor, but police believe the death to be accidental.
