JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —
UPDATE | 04/12/2021
On Monday, Action News Jax reached out to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office to see if there are any new updates in this case.
The agency said at this time there is no new information to report, but they are encouraging anyone with additional information to call Crimestoppers.
Since we first brought this story to you on Action News Jax on Sunday—we’ve learned a local monument maker, Etched Impressions, has donated a headstone to the Edelen family.
A viewer also reached out to Action News Jax Courtney Cole to donate a burial plot at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Home in Orange Park.
The person did not want to be identified, but via e-mail told Cole they wanted to give the plot to the family in the spirit of Christian giving.
If you would like to help the family, we have a link to their GoFundMe, here.

Neighbors and friends are remembering 47-year-old Jennifer Edelen, a mother of four after she was killed in what police say was an accidental shooting.
Her best friend and neighbor, Linda McHenry said she was a loving mother, and someone she will never forget.
Family gathered tonight at the home and they did not want to talk on camera but told Action News Jax reporter Ben Ryan off camera that Edelen was a loving mother, and a good person.
The family has set up a GoFundMe as they begin to plan for funeral arraignments.

UPDATE | 4/11/2021 7:45 P.M.:
A woman is dead after being shot in the head inside her home Sunday afternoon in what the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said appears to be a “tragic accident.”
When officers arrived, a neighbor told them that while they were cleaning their gun it accidentally discharged into the victim’s home, striking her in the head.
JSO said the gunfire was approximately 40 to 50 yards from where the victim was standing in the front room of her home on Jeb Stuart Lane.
The victim’s ‘young child’ was the only other person home at the time, and they were the ones to call Jacksonville Fire and Rescue for help.
JFRD pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
JSO believes this incident is a tragic accident based on their early investigations.
The neighbor is cooperating and was taken to be interviewed by investigators, according to officials.
JSO said they will work with the State Attorney’s Office to determine if this truly was an accident, or if there will be any pending charges.
