Jacksonville police: Man accused of abducting woman at gunpoint arrested

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Update 2/19/2020 10:25 p.m. - The man accused of abducting a woman at gunpoint was arrested Wednesday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

According to Daniel Cruz’s booking page with JSO, he is facing charges of aggravated assault, false imprisonment, burglary with assault or battery, kidnapping and possessing not more than 20 grams of marijuana.

Original Story 2/17/2020 - An abduction was reported in the area of Atlantic Boulevard and Acme Street, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Officers responded to a home and were advised that a victim was taken by force at gunpoint, police say.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the suspect, Daniel Anthony Cruz, 22, reportedly forced his way into the home and displayed a gun. He then dragged the victim, Alexandra D. Pompey, 21, by the hair out of the home and fled the area. It is unknown what type of vehicle the two could be in at this time, police say.

Pompey was later located at at the Speedway off Lane Avenue, police say. Cruz has not been located.
