Homicide suspect still on the loose after Southside apartment complex shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Update 1:17 p.m.: The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a man was discovered dead in an apartment complex parking lot with several gunshot wounds around 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Though the victim’s identity has not been released, family told Action News Jax reporter Christy Turner his daughter was born just two weeks ago.

Police said the shooting happened in the parking lot of Lakeside Apartments off Southside Boulevard.

Witnesses told JSO they saw a black male wearing a camouflage hoodie and black pants fleeing the scene. They aren’t sure if the suspect is still in the area or if he left in a vehicle.

JSO is asking for any witnesses or people who have information about the suspect to call them at 904-630-0500 or stay anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS (8477).
