JSO: Woman hurt in drive-by shooting near Jacksonville Heights

This is now the fifth shooting in Jacksonville this weekend and the 302nd for the year.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported shooting in the 6300 block of Melissa Court West in Jacksonville Heights on Sunday.

According to police, at 2 p.m. a woman in her 20s was found suffering from one gunshot wound and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

After investigating, police determined that a gray vehicle pulled up to a residence in the area and shot numerous rounds into it, hitting the woman.

Police believe this incident is connected to one that happened earlier on Sunday but they did not provide details on that incident.
