NAS Jax to conduct live bomb training in the Ocala National Forest

OCALA, Fla. — Naval Air Station Jacksonville will conduct live and inert bomb training in the Ocala National Forest from Friday through Sunday, according to the fire department.

The training will be conducted from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. from Friday through Sunday.

The training will take place at the Pinecastle Range Complex in the Ocala National Forest, which is about 2 miles west of Camp Ocala campgrounds and near several hiking trails.

According to the Southwest fire department, it is common for F-18 jet fighters and other Navy aircrafts to drop bombs in the middle of the range.

The explosions and loud noises may push wildlife out of the forest, so officials warn to always be mindful of larger animals during this time.

Anyone with a noise complaint is asked to call the Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility in Jacksonville ar 800-874-5059.
