Orlando Free Fall ride turns deadly

ORLANDO, Fla. — A 14-year-old boy is dead after falling out of the Orlando Free Fall ride at the city’s Icon Park.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to emergency 911 calls at the Icon Park around 11:12 p.m. Thursday.

Witnesses reported the teenager falling mid-ride into the ground.

Deputies say the teenager was taken to the hospital with injuries and later died.

An investigation of the incident is being conducted by the Sheriff’s Office.

The highly anticipated ride, seats up to 30 guests and stands 400 feet tall. When in motion, plunges at 70 miles per hour towards the ground.
