JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department said it battled a fire for over four hours at Gymnastics Unlimited early Monday morning.
According to Capt. Eric Prosswimmer, JFRD’s public information officer, crews battled a “heavy fire,” and the building is no longer structurally sound. Parts of it are in danger of collapsing due to damage extending all throughout the building.
Prosswimmer also told Action News Jax that no one was injured and that there is nothing that leads JFRD to think the fire was suspicious, but the State Fire Marshal will investigate the official cause.
Gymnastics Unlimited posted on their Facebook page that they are closed until further notice. A GoFundMe has also been created to aid in rebuilding.
Action News Jax will continue to follow the story and update you as events unfold.
