JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police are investigating after a shooting on Jacksonville’s Westside left one man hurt Monday morning.
At 5:45 a.m., the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said officers responded to an Exxon gas station on 103rd Street and Firestone Road regarding a shooting.
When they arrived, police found a man in his early 30s that had been shot at least once. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
The suspect and victim may know each other, according to police. A search is underway for the suspect but police said there is no threat to the community.
JSO said it is collecting evidence at another location near townhomes on Firestone and Wheat roads, where they believe the shooting may have happened.
Police believe the man was driven to the gas station from the scene at Firestone and Wheat roads.
The investigation at the gas station is near Westside High School. Police say it is not impacting nearby schools.
