Update Dec. 26: The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office released the arrest report for Markas Fishburne Wednesday. He is being charged with second degree murder, possession by a weapon of a convicted felon and tampering with evidence.
Fishburne is accused of beating a woman to death in a Southside apartment last week.
The arrest report said the woman’s boyfriend came home to find his apartment covered in blood and smelling of bleach, as if someone tried to clean up the scene. He told police he looked for his pistol and it was missing, along with Fishburne.
Officers found Fishburne at the Jacksonville Greyhound Bus terminal just before he got on a bus headed for Indiana.
Original Story: According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office’s transparency page, police have made an arrest in the case regarding a woman found beaten to death in a Southside apartment Friday.
Action News Jax reported Friday when the woman’s boyfriend told police he came home at the Green Tree Place apartment complex and found his apartment was covered in blood. Police found a woman’s body inside the apartment.
Detectives said the boyfriend’s roommate was taken into custody for questioning. Action News Jax found the incident number next to the suspect’s name matches the number on the alert JSO sent out about the murder on their transparency page.
Jail records show Markas Fishburne, 25, is facing charges of second-degree murder, tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Action News jax is working to get a copy of his mug shot.
Jail records also show he was arrested December 12 for domestic batter. Police say he head-butted his father twice.
Court records show Fishburne was out on probation and was required to have a mental health evaluation and anger management.
