JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Play resumed for the first round of THE PLAYERS Championship at 3:15 p.m.

That makes for a 4 hour and 15 minute delay after play was suspended at 11 a.m. for the first round, which began Thursday morning.

Gates re-opened at 3:00 p.m. and ticketed spectators were able to re-enter the property using their original ticket for the day.

Afternoon tee times will be pushed back by four hours. Here are the tee times, as provided by the PGA Tour:

It’s the second day of inclement weather impacting one of the biggest golf tournaments in Northeast Florida.

Action News Jax first alerted you a little after 6 a.m. about the first set of rain delays for THE PLAYERS Championship. Heavy rain and lightning began again around 11 a.m.

Disappointing for fans and players, perhaps, but good news for nearby Ponte Vedra businesses.

“When it rains we do better,” Metro Diner managing partner, Sage Cree, said. “I couldn’t be happier. We’ve had caddies come in, a couple of golfers, so it’s been pretty cool.”

Four doors down from Metro Diner, Pedego Electric Bikes isn’t feeling as lucky. “No rentals today,” store manager, Colin Freelane, said. “Fingers crossed we’ll have a sunny day.”
