MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — A source confirms to Action News Jax that a man suspected in a Clay County woman’s killing was shot and killed by police in Maryland on Tuesday afternoon.
Action News Jax has been reporting on the search for Shawn Braddy since Monday morning. A close family member confirmed to Action News Jax that 33-year-old Tiara McDaniel was the victim killed in her own home.
The Montgomery County Department of Police said on its Twitter page that “a suspect wanted for a homicide that occurred in Jacksonville, Florida” was shot and killed by police.
The shooting of the “homicide suspect” happened in Prince George’s County, Maryland as the officers, who were involved in a U.S. Marshals task force, were attempting to arrest the suspect, police said.
Montgomery County police said the suspect shot at detectives, officers returned fire and they ran after the suspect. The suspect died at the scene.

One Montgomery County detective was shot in the upper body by the suspect, the agency said. The officer’s condition is not known right now.
Family of McDaniel tell Action News Jax that she was shot Monday while holding her 5-year-old. They also tell us that McDaniel had just moved in an effort to get away from Braddy. They claim the two were in an abusive relationship and Braddy fathered two of her children.
