JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a teacher at a private school is accused of sexual abuse against a student and they are releasing his identity to seek any other possible victims.

James Johnson, 70, has been arrested and charged with lewd molestation and offenses against a student by an authority figure, JSO said.

According to Johnson’s charge, the victim was older than the age of 12 and younger than 16.

JSO said it was notified on Tuesday, February 9, of a sexual abuse incident involving a teacher at a local private school, later identified as Johnson by detectives with the Special Assault Unit.

Police are releasing Johnson’s image to seek any other possible victims. JSO said on its Instagram that it “cannot release the name of the school due to Florida Statute. This is to protect the victim from being identified.”
