JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An early morning third alarm fire partially shut down the 8400 block of New Kings Road in both directions for hours Wednesday,
Nearly 80 firefighters responded to the Lincoln Hills area in northwest Jacksonville just before 4 a.m. to put out the fire at a trucking and a storage unit company.
About an hour and 20 minutes later, the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department said the fire was under control but there is extensive damage.
There are no injuries and JFRD said no one was inside the building at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown. JFRD has requested the state fire marshal.
Expect crews in the area as they monitor hot spots.
Evan’s Delivery Company has been condemned following the fire.
The owner told Action News Jax, Meghan Moriarty, that about 170 people work there and they will have to move business elsewhere for the time being. When that happens is up in the air.
The company’s truck detailing shop is destroyed. The roof caved in. Four storage units also caught fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
