JFRD told Action News Jax that crews did a great job at preventing the fire from becoming a catastrophe, being that the tanker is carrying 2,500 gallons of diesel and 6,000 gallons of regular fuel.
According to JFRD, the fire involved the tires that impinged on the frame of the vehicle and the tank. The driver noticed that the tire temperature sensor was quickly rising and pulled over to alert the fire department. The driver of the fuel tanker is OK, authorities said.
No other cars were impacted by the fire but there were traffic delays.
