JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Surveillance video captured the shocking moment a hit-and-run driver plowed into a parked SUV at the edge of a driveway on Jacksonville’s Westside.
The hit-and-run happened Tuesday on Metto Rd. on Jacksonville’s Westside.
The video shows the car barreling down the street, hitting the SUV, and pushing it from the spot it was parked.
Kori Barbaree said she still can’t believe what happened.
“They obviously had some reason that they didn’t stop,” Barbaree said. “It’s really inconsiderate.”
She said her mother’s SUV was damaged in the hit-and-run crash.
Her uncle William Barbaree, who lives across the street, said he heard the impact.

“It was a big bang,” William Barbaree said. “Oh, it was loud.”
Barbaree said her mom just got the SUV back Sunday after it was in the shop for more than a week. Now, she said her mom, who works out of her SUV to clean houses, doesn’t have a way to get to jobs.
“It’s just caused her to lose additional money,” Barbaree said.
She said they filed a report with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Barbaree said the driver left behind a clue: a piece of the front bumper. Based of the bumper, it appears the car is black. The car should have front damage on the passenger side.
She’s asking for the community to be on the lookout.
“Hopefully we can get some tips,” Barbaree said. “Definitely need to figure out who did it.”

Barbaree said it’s hard for her to understand why someone would do this, and has a message for the driver.
“I just hope that you would come forward or at least never do this in the future because you never know who you’re hurting and whose life you are affecting,” Barbaree said.
