Jacksonville Beach Police Department said the father was killed in front of his two-year-old daughter on Sanctuary Boulevard just after 7:50 Wednesday night.
The child, who was in the car during the shooting, was not hurt. Police said she was reunited with family members at the police station.
Police have not identified the victim and have not released any suspect information at this time.
Investigators found handgun shell casings and a tire at the scene of the crime, but said they’re unsure if it’s connected to the shooting.
Now they’re asking anyone who lives on American Avenue, Seabreeze Avenue, Fairway Lane, and S. 15th Street to review home security footage for a dark-colored SUV.
Police shared a map of the route on Facebook.
Action News Jax captured video of the victim’s car, also a dark-colored SUV, which appeared to be the center of JBPD’s investigation Wednesday night.

Neighbors described the community as quiet and tight-knit.
“We all know each other. Everyone here is very, very close. So, this kind of stuff doesn’t happen here,” Erin Frauenheim, who lives around the corner from the shooting, said. “People are just trying to help the police officers for somebody’s family that unfortunately lost a dad last night.”
Her son was in his bedroom Wednesday night when he heard four to five gunshots. Frauenheim said within about ten minutes, police and paramedics arrived on the scene.
