ORIGINAL STORY 9/16/2021:
A Jacksonville family is begging for the person who left their son to die to come forward.
Michael Walton, better known as Prince, was a senior at Riverside High School.
On Saturday, Sept. 11 he was taking the SAT but never made it home.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a driver ran a red light causing a crash, then left the scene and abandoned his car.
Prince was the one he crashed into and left. His parents say he later succumbed to his injuries from the crash.
It happened at the intersection of Edgewood Avenue South and Roosevelt Boulevard Service Road Saturday morning.
Police say the suspect’s vehicle is a 2022 Hyundai Sonata. Investigators describe him as a black man, approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall with low-cut hair wearing dark-colored clothing. He entered a silver vehicle on Edgewood Avenue, possibly a rideshare vehicle.
Walton’s mom, Renee, pleads, “You left our baby...didn’t check on him...you didn’t call 911, but we ask that you please just come forward and if there’s someone out there that’s watching this and you know the person don’t let him hide don’t let him get away with this.”
