Young Jacksonville mother dies from COVID-19 after giving birth to second child

JACKSONVILLE, FLa. — A young Jacksonville mother has died battling COVID-19 just weeks after giving birth to her baby girl.

A GoFundMe page created on behalf of her fiancé, David Miller, said the mother, whose name was Greyzie, died Aug. 15, after a month-long battle with COVID-19.

The fundraiser said Greyzie was 31 weeks pregnant when doctors suggested an emergency cesarean section. Greyzie gave birth to Evie Aura Miller nine weeks prematurely, and Evie was placed in the NICU, and Greyzie was put into an induced coma with a ventilator.

Greyzie was on a ventilator for 17 days before her left lung collapsed, then right lung, and then her heart gave out, according to the GoFundMe page.

Greyzie left behind her newborn baby girl, Evie, her two-year-old son, Silas, and her fiancé, David Miller.

Just one day after Greyzie passed, David was able to take their newborn daughter, Evie, home from the hospital.

The GoFundMe page said, “Greyzie was very adamant about keeping her and her family safe from Covid, so for her to pass away from this disease proves how easily it can spread and take her life.”
