The Jacksonville Beach man who was piloting a motorcycle from which a woman fell and died last weekend was arrested earlier this month for reckless driving, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.
Kristopher Mcanear, 23, was driving a Yahama R1 motorcycle on I-295 with Teal Starr, 22, on the back on Nov. 19 when Starr fell off and was killed, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A JSO report obtained by Action News Jax said that Mcanear was spotted driving the same make and model Yamaha motorcycle on Nov. 6.
The report said that Mcanear was driving the motorcycle “at a high rate of speed” down Baymeadows Road and drove down the wrong way of Philips Highway to avoid traffic. The report also said that Mcanear saw JSO and evaded them by splitting traffic on San Jose Blvd.
JSO was able to trace Mcanear’s tag and eventually arrested him on Nov. 16 at Rainbow Muffler on San Jose Blvd., where Mcanear worked, the report said.
Mcanear was charged with reckless driving and for not having a motorcycle driver’s license.

Three days later, Mcanear was driving the motorcycle on I-295 when his passenger, Starr, fell and was possibly hit by another car. Starr was taken to UF Health, where she was pronounced dead.
Mcanear was not injured.
