Brown showed us the bruises on her daughter's face and arm and said her daughter was attacked after she was pushed into the boy.
“The little boy thought it was an intentional shove and it was personal. She had her back to him, and she turned around and he punched her. Out of reaction, she turned around and smacked him back,” said Brown.
She said that’s when the boy backed her into the corner and began punching her.
Brown said her daughter was suspended.

She said she went to press charges, but was told it wasn’t possible.
“They told me because it was mutual combat in the code of conduct, calling it mutual combat, I’m not allowed to press charges,” said Brown.
Action News Jax called the school board and sent them emails to try and get some answers.
We tried to see what punishment the boy received and where school administration was during the fight.
We received two emails back.

The first states, "Thanks for reaching out. While we are unable to comment on specific discipline issued per privacy of student records, I have attached our Code of Conduct for reference. It is also available on our website. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions."
The second states, "The video is concerning, however it does not provide a complete perspective regarding the exchange between the two students. After school officials and law enforcement conducted interviews, it was clear both parties participated in mutually aggressive and combative behavior. School level discipline has been issued to both students according to the Student Code of Conduct."
Brown said she’ll be going to the school board on Thursday as well.
