The former NFL player arrested in a drug raid at a Lakeshore auto shop is the son of former Jacksonville City Council member Kimberly Daniels, who is currently running to represent state House District 14.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrested former New York Giants wide receiver Michael Jennings at his job at Jack’s Auto Service on Wednesday.
The police report says Jennings had more than $5,000 in his front pocket and they say he was selling a whole lot more than alignments inside the shop.
The report said an undercover officer bought drugs off Jennings twice at Jack’s Auto Service in the past few weeks.
Officers said they found half a pound of marijuana, powder and crack cocaine, opioid pills, drug paraphernalia and bullets in a supply closet.
“I wouldn’t have ever known it. They didn’t appear to have that sort of environment over there. They seemed to be a very clean business,” said Tony Vance, who owns the lawn mower business next door.
The JSO report also says officers found a gun in a shed out back.
“I can understand the weapons. A lot of these shop owners around here have some way of protecting themselves,” said Vance.
Right next to the Drug Abatement Response Team flier on the business’s door is a new orange notice from the building inspector. A city spokesperson said the business was cited for maintenance violations, illegal signage and more during the drug raid.
Action News Jax reached out to Daniels for comment, but after several bad connections, we got her voicemail.
