JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 17-year-old student at Terry Parker Senior High School said she was hit, choked and thrown to the ground by her assistant principal on Wednesday.

Three different videos depict a man in a white shirt holding onto a girl in a redshirt. He then pushes the girl, grabs her by the neck and slams her into the fence. Other footage shows the teen being pushed, hard, to the ground.

The teen in the red shirt tells Action News Jax she was trying to defend her cousin in a fight.

“I do not touch him one time. I grab my cousin. He pushes his arm back, but I’m seeing it as he’s trying to hit me,” Alajaah Brown said. “So, I see a hand go back, so I swing. Before my hit got to even connect, he’s already ‘boom, boom, boom,’ just throwing them [hands] at me.”

We reached out to Duval County Public Schools to confirm the incident and the employee’s identity. We’ve received this statement: “We are aware of this incident. The employee has been temporarily reassigned to duties without student contact while the Office of Professional Standards investigates the incident.”

This is a developing story. We will have updates on CBS47/FOX30 at 5 & 6 p.m.
