Extra precautions are needed when you're outdoors, as a heat advisory is in effect Friday from noon to 6 p.m. in Southeast Georgia and Duval and Nassau counties.
Everyone should be aware of the hot temperatures, but people who work in the heat have to pay close attention to their bodies and the elements.
Lifeguards at Jacksonville Beach are always outside, keeping people safe on the beach. But they also take proper precautions to make sure they’re safe while working outside.
“Even our guys are susceptible. They’ll start feeling the effects, so we rotate them out. They don’t sit all day long out there,” Jacksonville Beach Ocean Rescue Captain Rob Emahiser said.
