There will be heightened security at a Jacksonville school Friday after a threat of violence was reported.

Parents and guardians of students at Mayport Coastal Sciences Middle School received a voicemail message from the principal Thursday in regard to the threat written on a restroom wall of the school.

The parent who sent the voicemail to Action News Jax said it was her son who told school leaders about the threat.

In the message, the principal said the message written on the restroom wall indicated that something could happen at the school Friday, Sept. 28.

The student accused of writing the threat has been identified.

"Please know we have identified the student responsible for the message and we are working with the student’s family to provide appropriate support and services,” the principal said.
