Families of Slain Children, Inc. has moved into its new location on North Myrtle Avenue.
The local nonprofit moved into a building down the street from its previous location. The new building was once home to a credit union.
“It’s a blessing,” founder Beverly McClain.
McClain showed us the inside of the new headquarters, which includes more space, and more rooms for group and private grief counseling.
Families of Slain Children, Inc. has provided emotional and financial support for thousands over the last nearly 13 years.

Julia Saline’s daughter Keisha Murray was murdered and dumped in a local cemetery in 2013.
She says McClain helped her through that difficult time.
“This is one of the best things that could happen to Beverly, because she’s always reaching out to families, helping them in the time of need,” said Saline.
The nonprofit’s future was in question just a few months ago.
The owner of its former location down the street decided to sell.
“I said I guess I’ll go home and sit on the sofa,” said McClain. “But God said no.”
Then, former CSX Executive Michael J. Ward stepped up to buy the new building.

McClain says this all happened during the holiday season, when many families need the most support.
Saline tells us she knows her daughter would appreciate it.
“I believe she’d just rejoice in heaven, to know that someone cares,” said Saline.
Families of Slain Children, Inc. will be holding its “Grand Re-Opening” on Dec. 14.
Michael J. Ward says he’s willing to match any donations to the nonprofit, up to $30,000.
