FDOT hosting meeting about First Coast Expressway in St. Johns County

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Department of Transportation is hosting a hybrid construction open house on Tuesday for the first segment of the First Coast Expressway in St. Johns County.

The in-person meeting is from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Renaissance World Golf Village.

Those who wish to attend virtually can learn how to here.

Work began last month on the First Coast Expressway (State Road 23) from east of County Road 16A to east of County Road 2209 (St. Johns Parkway).

According to a news release, the project includes “approximately 4.3 miles of a new four-lane limited-access toll facility, milling and resurfacing, earthwork, subsoil excavation, base work, shoulder treatment, drainage improvements, curb and gutter, traffic signals, lighting, highway signing, guardrail, box culverts, bridges, MSE walls, sidewalks/bicycle path, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), tolling, and other incidental construction.

The project is expected to be completed by 2030.
