FHP monitoring wildfire in Putnam County, smoke may impact visibility on highway

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol is encouraging motorists to travel with caution in the area of Hickory Nut Trail and US Highway 17 due to a wildfire. FHP said they’re monitoring the fire and it may impact visibility on Highway 17.

“Motorists are reminded to reduce their speed as necessary to avoid a collision and utilize their low beam headlights in order to adapt to changing weather conditions,” a Friday FHP news release states. “Smoke signs are being placed on US Highway 17 to alert motorist.”
