JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — San Marco and the Downtown Jacksonville area experienced some minor flooding Sunday morning as a result of strong winds and peak high tide.

The area is notorious for flooding, so the conditions are no surprise during steady rain.

Locals know all too well that weather like this can cause them trouble. Last year, the area experienced intense flooding and heavy rain, with water above the ankles in parts of town.

Car damage is common as a result of nasty weather. In some cases, locals can be seen making the most of flooding by taking their kayaks for a spin.

Conditions are steadily improving, but Action News Jax will continue to monitor the area.
