Several parents are on edge after learning the Florida Department of Health shut down six of their neighborhood pools for violations and one for maintenance.
There are 5,000 homes in Julington Creek Plantation and residents told Action News Jax that several kids have gotten sick this summer.
The Department of Health found violations that range from pool appearance/algae control to improper chlorine levels.
"I spoke to the guy at the health department, and he said it's definitely a health concern," resident Jacalyn Morton said.
Morton said management didn't warn residents about the closures. She found out through the Department of Health's website. CLICK HERE TO CHECK A PUBLIC POOL ON THE DOH WEBSITE

"It's just upsetting that you wouldn't care about the health of children swimming in pools that we pay for," Morton said.
After we reached out to the general manager for a response and was told "no comment", an email was sent out to residents less than ten minutes later, saying that Crown Pools has taken over chemical maintenance of the pools.
"In my opinion, that’s more or less being reactive because of all the attention it's gotten now, versus being proactive," resident Michael Morton said.
Morton said this is an ongoing problem.
"Over the past month, the state of the pools has been really bad, and you don't have to be a pool expert to see that," Morton said.
And Morton said it’s a safety issue.
"And I know lots of kids who have gotten sick this summer and they say it's from pools," Morton said.
The next community development district meeting is Thursday at 6 p.m. and is open to the public.
Action News Jax was told by residents that the pools will be up for discussion.
