Florida man took shower in victim's home, wore her clothes then stole her car, police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man made himself at home as he stole from a 77-year-old woman, according to police.

The woman said she walked into her home to find a man wearing her clothes while hiding out from police.

The report said 37 -year-old Kristopher Patterson said he was not going to hurt her. He had taken a shower, asked her for a drink, and made a phone call.

She says Patterson stole her money and an air mattress, but asked to take soaps and shampoo.

The victim says she was terrified.

He told her what he was stealing.

He even took one of her late husband's watches.

At one point he even gave back something she said belonged to her husband.

The 77-year-old said he stole her purse, and during a struggle she said to him “Please don’t do this.”

Police say Patterson stole the woman’s car and drove to IKEA.

There he stole a tag from another car to put onto the stolen car.

He then drove to a Walmart off Phillips Highway.

Later that night shoppers called police to report a man slumped over at the wheel.

After a struggle with police, Patterson was arrested and booked into jail.

The woman said the man did drugs in her car and she recovered most of her belongings. ​
