CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. — A Folkston man was arrested early Tuesday morning after a Jacksonville woman was found dead in a Kingsland hotel.
David Chavell Monroe, 39, is facing one count of first-degree murder in the death of 62-year-old Ruthene Tukes of Jacksonville, according to a news release from the Kingsland Police Department.
Kingsland police responded to a hotel at 1135 E. King Ave. after getting a 911 call that was disconnected. Police learned that a guest had called 911 after hearing a woman screaming for help.

Police found Tukes dead in one of the rooms in the hotel with "apparent head trauma," the release said.
Investigators identified Monroe as a person of interest and went to his last-known address in Folkston. They found Tukes' car in the front yard and Monroe with blood on his shoes and shorts.
Monroe was arrested and taken to the Camden County Sheriff's Office.
