When the Gators and Bulldogs renew their rivalry, at EverBank Field it will once again feature a handful of local players on both sidelines.
Both sides of the ball for Florida feature starters from Jacksonville and the surrounding area, with 11 area players on scholarship. Bishop Kenny's Tyler Jordan and Providence's David Sharpe anchor the offensive line that protects onetime Episcopal Eagle and starting quarterback Luke Del Rio.
Kavaris Harkless, out of Trinity Christian, provides depth on that offensive line, with Ahmad Fulwood (Bishop Kenny), Kalif Jackson (Fletcher) and Rick Wells (Raines) in the receiving corps.
It's the defensive unit where the Gators make their biggest impact, and right in the middle of it all is Camden County grad Jarrad Davis. He's joined by Daniel McMillian out of First Coast High School in the linebackers group, while Trinity Christian's Nick Washington has worked his way into the majority of snaps in the secondary. Also watch out for Baker County grad Cece Jefferson, who rotates in on the defensive line for UF.
Just two former area standouts currently wear the red and black, but neither figures to play a big role in this year's game. Camden County's Brice Ramsey serves as a backup quarterback and the freshman from Raines High School, Solomon Kindley, has already seen the field for Georgia on the offensive line.
